Six arrested for selling adulterated food in Kabale

KABALE– The Police in Kabale have arrested six women for allegedly selling adulterated food.

It’s alleged that adulterated food is food mixed with something else that changes it from its original state to different one of poor quality and dangerous for human consumption.

According to Elly Maate the kigezi police spokes person the accused are;Anjela Kyarimpa 42 yrs,Mary Tushabe 29 yrs, Doris Ndyamuhaki 25 yrs,Constance Kukundakwe 26 yrs,Clare Amutuhire and Tumwebaze all residents of Kabale municipality.

Maate noted that the above mentioned were arrested Thursday 25th February 2021evening from Kabale central market ready handed selling small pieces of fake fried fresh fish.

”They get a fish born, add casava flour or wheat flour on top and it looks like dried fried fish which is not. They sell each piece at 500 shillings. And when it’s prepared, it becomes like porridge.” Maate said.

Maate further said that the operation will continue so that those dealing in such a business are brought to book and charged accordingly.

The case was registered at Kabale police ref. no. SD 42/25/02/2021.
