16 year old girl tells her journey in fulfilment of her golf dream at AFRIYEA

SPORT– Juliet Nyakato a senior student at St Elizabeth’s Girls Boarding School, Mityana joined AFRIYEA Golf Academy in September 2020 as one of the pioneer students.

Inspired by her aunt Lillian Koowe who is a member of Toro club and also a coach at AFRIYEA golf academy. 

“The winning mentality of Aunt Lillian inspired me to join golf because aunt seems to be perennial winner she comes with trophies and gifts like TVS, glasses, and other nice items at home” She narrates.

I had never played golf before enrolling in the first batch of students with the AFRIYEA Golf Academy but she already wants to play golf for “the rest of my life and maybe in the future as a professional”.  

Joining the Academy was a suggestion to her from her aunt Lillian a member of Toro Golf Club and an AFRIYEA Golf Academy coach, and Juliet is very thankful to her aunt for encouraging her to join.

“I am really enjoying playing golf and making new friends, and I particularly enjoy putting.  Before joining the Academy I didn’t even know that the youth could play golf but the coaches here have made me fall in love with the game.”

Juliet looks Stephen Kasaija the Head Coach of AFRIYEA Golf Academy as her idol and she added that “his confidence inspires me and he makes me believe that I can do it, and I would like to thank him and all of the coaches for giving me this opportunity.”

Coach Lillian Koowe also said that Juliet is amongst the best promising young golfer and have no doubts she will achieve her golf dreams.
