RUKUNGIRI– The police in Rukungiri district are hunting for two suspects in murder of an 18 years old boy.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson identified the suspects as Nyesiga Amos and one known as Bright who on 29th October 2021 assaulted Mugume Nelson a resident of Katungi cell, Garubanda parish in kebisoni sub county Rukungiri district.
Maate says that the case of murder by assault was reported by Alleluia Prissy a resident of Kyarugamba cell, Rwentondo ward Eastern Division in Rukungiri Municipality.
It’s alleged that on the 29th October 2021, at around 1:00pm at Katungi cell the deceased developed disagreements with the suspects who were accusing him to have stolen their panga which he was in possession by that time.
Maate added that during the process of fighting for the same panga, the panga injured one of the suspects one Nyesiga Amos who in turn picked a stone and hit the deceased on the behind head hence causing serious injury.
Maate told our reporter that the deceased was rushed to Nyakibale hospital and was pronounced dead on 3rd November 2021 at around 10:30 pm.
After his death that’s when the mother one Alleliah Prossy to the deceased reported the case of murder at Central police station Rukungiri under Reference number SD ref 02/04/11/2021.
Maate further said that the scene was visited and documented and Post-mortem was done as investigations commence to arrest the two suspects that are on run.
