NEWS- Southern Primary Teachers Colleges (PTC) Women football and Moyo technical Institute men football teams were on Friday 19th August 2022 crowned winners in the concluded 7th Edition of the PTCs TVFIs National Games in Rukiga district.
Competitions hosted by Kabale-Bukinda Core PTC included a number of sporting disciplines including; Football, Netball, volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Javelin, Discuss, Triple Jump, Cross country women and men, Mind games, among others.
The tournament saw over 1,445 participants battling in different game activities, of whom 1,241 students (413 Female and 828 Male) from 51 institutions, 20 TVFIs (4 Farm Institutes, 2 Vocational Schools and 14 Technical institutes), 26 Principals (17male and 9 females) in attendance with over 79 Team officials.
The chief guest Rev. Can. Duncans Mugumya the Commissioner in charge of physical education and Sports representing Hon Peter Ogwang the state Minister in charge of Sports from Ministry of education and sports.
Mugumya thanked principals of the participating institutions for allowing their learners to participate in the tournament which was a good gesture for talent identification and development.
Rev. Mugumya challenged the participants to aim at developing their talents the most so that they can earn from them in future as well as other sports benefits.
The host Principal Mrs. Agasha Muramuzi Constance of Bukinda core PTC extended her appreciation to the Ministry of Education and Sports for investing in sports most especially in Tertiary Institutions.
Muramuzi said that the concluded championship competition will be unforgatable in the lives of the Kigezi region and Kabale-Bukinda core PTC in particular.
She further thanked the Rukiga county Member of the Parliament Hon Roland Ndyomugyenyi Bish for donating all the footballs they used in the tournament and journalists for covering all the activities.
Mrs. Muramuzi haile fellow principals from different participating institutions for contributing towards the success of this tournament.
St. Josephs Technical Institute Kisubi was also awarded as the overall winner, in different sports activities ranking with 4 gold and 2 silver medals, followed by Eastern Region with 4 gold medals, Central Region came third with 1 gold medal, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals.
The awards rewarding function was also witnessed by the National Coordinator of Tertiary Institutions Physical Education and Sports (PES) Ms. Ddembe N Hajarah, Rukiga district Education Officer Vastina Beyendera, Technical staff Rukiga district Local Government among others.
