Kanungu FM Station Manager sentenced to 8 months jail term

NEWS- Kanungu Grade one magistrate his worship Athanathious Mukobi has today sentenced Nelson Twinamatsiko, the manager 91.5 Kanungu FM to serve a jail sentence of eight months or pay 200,000 over charges of assault.

Prosecution alleges that on 26th January 2023, while at the premises of Kanungu FM located in Katate cell, Twinamatsiko assaulted Tumuramye when she had gone to demand for her Ugx 40,000 commission from the latter’s office.

The sentence resulted from a plea of guilty that was entered by Twinamatsiko today and through his lawyer asked for a lenient sentence for he has not wasted court’s time, is a first time offender, of advanced age and sole bread winner for his wife and children.

He also asked the magistrate to allow the accused and the accuser to try reconciliation since they are workmates.

The state prosecutor had prayed for an appropriate sentence because cases of assault are rampant these days, saying an appropriate sentence will deter other would be offenders.

When her opinion was sought by the magistrate, Annita Tumuramye said she is open to reconciliation and their relationship as workmates continue.
