Gables Vocational training Institute wins Doctors Case Medicals Women’s day tournament

NEWS– The Doctors Case Medicals Women’s day tournament has finally climaxed with Gables Vocational Training Institute emerging winners.

In a final game played on Wednesday March 8th 2023 at St. Gerard’s Secondary School playground, Gables Vocational Institute trounced Kanyinya Vocational Institute by 4 goals to Nil.

Gables win saw Ashaba Shivan scoring a brace as Niwaha Vanisha and Nduhukire Swifah netting once each.

Gables Vocational Training Institute went home with a goat and T. Shirts for players, Kanyinya Vocational who became the tournament’s 1st Runners up took 150,000 and T shirts for players.

All other teams that participated got T shirts for players courtesy of Doctors Case Medicals Rukungiri, the tournament organisers. A curtain raiser game saw Boona FM ladies settling for a goalless draw with Nyakibale Ladies.

Doctors Case Medicals Director Dr. Asaph Byamugisha said that the women’s football tournament was intended to demonstrate how women and girls have capacity to break barriers of gender stereotype in all fields.

Byamugisha thanked all the participating women’s football teams and congratulated all women upon the international Women’s day. 

Dr. Asaph Byamugisha Thanked Uganda Blood Transfusion services UBTS – Rukungiri Branch for supporting the Blood Donation activity throughout the tournament where they managed to Collect 107 Units of Blood. 

The women’s football tournament and blood Donation was among other activities organised alongside a week long Women’s health camp that started on 6th March and Continues up to 11th March 2023.

With the Women’s health camp activities still ongoing, Doctors case Medicals has subsided services on Breast cancer screening, cervical cancer Screening, Family Planning and treatment of infertility among other medical services being offered.

The day’s Guest of honour, who is also the Former Rukungiri Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Betty Bamukwasa Muzanira while handing over the gifts to tournament winners thanked all participants for showcasing football talent.

Muzanira went ahead to thank Doctors Case Medicals, Nyakibale Parish and Boona FM for Supporting the tournament before requesting the organisers and all partners to make this tournament an annual event during celebration of international women’s day.
