KANUNGU– Uganda’s Health Minister, Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has disclosed that Kambuga Hospital will become a Regional Referral Hospital when it is refurbished and expanded.
Minister Aceng made the remarks on Wednesday 29th March 2023 while presiding over the ground breaking ceremony of commencement of renovation works at Kambuga Hospital in Kanungu District.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister for ICT Hon Chris Baryomunsi, Woman Member of Parliament Hon Patience Kinshaba Nkunda, the LC 5 Chairman Eng Sam Arinaitwe Kajojo among many others.
The Minister said that the refurbishment will be carried out in phases, with a focus on the Maternity, Male, Female & Pediatric Wards in the current fiscal year, followed by the OPD and imaging center next financial year.
The Minister said that implementation of the project that will cost an estimated Ugx 40 billion will be a joint effort by the Ministry of Defense through UPDF Engineering Brigade and Kanungu District Local Government.
She said that Kambuga Hospital will become a Regional Referral Hospital to serve Kanungu and Rukungiri Districts when the refurbishment is completed in the next two years.
