RUBIRIZI- The Police in Rubirizi district have in custody a 31 year old man for killing a village mate during a bar quarrel.
The deceased is Rashid Mandella aged 31, resident of Munyonyi II A village in Munyonyi parish, Katanda Sub County in Rubirizi who was cut with a panga by Julias Kajuli 31, a resident of the same area.
It’s alleged that on 15th March 2023 at around 8pm in Omukavacado trading center, the deceased and others were boozing in the bar of a one Abert until the brother to the deceased known as Rawman developed misunderstandings with the suspect.
They developed a quarrel and when the deceased moved out to make a phone call, he was waylaid by Ngabirano Julius (suspect) who cut him with a panga on the lower abdomen.
It’s reported that the victim ran back to the center calling for help as his intestines were protruding outside and was rushed to Kyamuhunga hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead on Thursday 16th March 2023.
The greater Bushenyi police spokesperson SP Marcial Tumusiime confirmed the incident stressing that the crime scene was visited by Police officers and the case file number SD 18/16/03/2023 opened at Katerera police station.
The suspect accepted to have committed the crime but Rubirizi police was advised to interrogate him well so that they can also recover the exhibit of the panga.
Sp Tumusiime says Police inquiries into the matter are still ongoing.
