Rukungiri Muslim Leadership visits North Kigezi Diocesan Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe

NEWS- The bishop of North Kigezi diocese Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe on Thursday evening received a delegation from the Rukungiri Muslim community led by the District Kadhi Sheikh AbdulMalik Kayole Byaruhanga.

The Muslim leaders paid this courtesy visit to the newly consecrated Bishop Asiimwe at his Emmanuel cathedral  Kinyasano hill home in Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality, to welcome and congratulate him upon his new office.

Bishop Asiimwe welcomed the team and pledged to work together as religious leaders in Rukungiri as they serve God’s people. The Bishop called for unity and cooperation for the development of religious institutions without discrimination for the time they will be serving.

The Rukungiri district Sheikh Abdul Malik Kayole Byaruhanga who was accompanied by his wife and the Rukungiri district Muslim council chairperson Haji Abudallah Bananuka noted that their visit was related to Qur ‘an 60:8 that talks about cooperation of all religions for peace and unit .

Kayole thanked the Bishop for welcoming them, hence pledging cooperation since they are all district religious for the development of Rukungiri.

Haji Abudallah Bananuka the Rukungiri Muslim district council chairperson narrated that their visit was to showcase cooperation among religions as it is right away from the inter-religious council of Uganda.
