NEWS- Two men in Kisoro district on Tuesday evening survived an attempted assassination by unknown assailants armed with SMG rifle.
According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police spokesperson, Richard Munyaneza 38 at around 8:30 Pm allegedly found three unidentified assailants armed with SMG rifle in his compound in Kanyenka village, Muramba parish, Muramba Sub County. It’s from here that they attempted to rob him by ordering him to surrender money, a phone and other valuables in his possession.
Maate told the press that Munyaneza instead decided to run into the house which prompted the assailants to discharge a bullet that however missed the target.
The Police PRO added that during the process, they started making an alarm and the assailants rode the motorcycles towards Bunagana.
He noted that the assailants proceeded to Bukara village in Maziba ward, Bunagana town council where they attempted to rob another person Bosco Mpogazi and discharged another bullet but in vain. According to him, Police were alerted, responded to the scene, one cartridge of SMG was recovered and the patrol team responded.
