Mparo Town Council wins Rukiga District Primary Schools athletics

NEWS- The Rukiga district Kids Athletic for primary school has concluded with a number of pupils engaging in different Athletics competitions.

The Athletics items which included track and Field events started in Mid-March with pupils competing in their respective school to Zones, Sub counties and Town councils finally to the district level from where the selected winners will represent Rukiga at the National Kids Athletics competitions.

Representing the Rukiga district boss as the guest of honor, the District Secretary for Health, Education and sports Hon. Nkamushaba Jacqueline said that as a young district, they are growing steadily in the Education sector both academically and in sports.

Nkamushaba further appreciated the school Heads for the recent 2022 PLE Examination results that saw the district leading the entire Kigezi sub region districts.

“I am happy to report that in 2022 PLE results, we were ranked the best in Kigezi Sub Region which shows that we are steadily growing both academically and in sports” said Nkamushaba.

The Rukiga district Education Officer Vastina Beyendera said that having Kids from different schools competing gives them a chance to freely interact with fellows. 

Beyendera strongly warned the Schools that didn’t present pupils for competitions to improve as only 3 pupils had come from the entire Kashambya Sub County out of the 12 who were supposed to compete.

“I want to warn those schools that failed to present their pupils for these competitions, you should be inspected to see what the problem was” said Beyendera.

The senior inspector of schools in Rukiga district Ndyabegyera Christopher said that they play a big role in seeing sports improving at all levels in every event.

Rukiga district has 71 primary schools and according to the Kids athletics rankings, Mparo town council was ranked the best with 74 points followed by Rwamucucu Sub County with 44.

The third was Kamwezi Sub County with 39 points followed by Bukinda Sub County with 37, Muhanga town council came 5th with 24 points and Kashambya Sub County trailed with only 14 points.
