NEWS- The Police in Kisoro District have a 16 year old boy in detention over possession of a wild creature.
The suspect is Gilbert Niyonzima a resident of Butuga Village, Rwingwe parish Nyakinama sub county Kisoro district.
Fabiano Nteziryayo and Tadeo, all residents of Bugalla village, Nyakabande sub county told this reporter that on Saturday evening while on their daily Village security patrol saw a gentleman walking in an Irish potatoes garden with a sack.
They arrested him suspecting him to be a potato thief but surprisingly found him carrying a living crested crane.
He was immediately arrested and taken to Mutolere Police post and later transferred to Kisoro central Police for interrogation.
Afande Musisi the Kisoro District Police Commander confirmed the development and cautioned the youths to avoid criminal related activities and focus on studies.
Musisi added that the accused trapped the Crane from Sereri swamp in Kanaba sub county and will be charged with possession of wild species under case no SD/REG/06/10/05/2023.
