Kigezi Home Boys Football team were receiving a cup as winner of Western regional League

MBARARA- Kaija Sunny- 20, has scored a winning goal in the final playoffs of Western regional League to give Kigezi HomeBoyz football club a chance of getting promoted to Federation of Uganda Football Association – FUFA Big league.

Kigezi HomeBoys football club from Kabale district was playing with Bunyaruguru tigers football club from Bunyaruguru district to choose the winner of Western regional League.

The match was played today evening at Kakyeka stadium in Mbarara district. Kigezi home boys FC now awaits the Winner from Bunyoro – Kitara region.

Sunny gave Kigezi Home Boys Football team the lead with a clinical header in the 64 th minute of the second half.

Bunyaruguru tigers football club tried hard, enjoyed ball possession and threatened to break through in the 90 Minutes of second half, but Kigezi Home Boys football club put up a spirited resistance with a solid midfield commanded by Joseph Seremba and the team Captain Nahabwe Akram in the defense.

The game remained 1-0 until the 90th and 3rd added minute when the centre referee whistled the last whistle.

Speaking to our Reporter after the game, Nahabwe Akram team captain thanked players for the resilience displayed towards the victory of the team.

He said that he is optimistic that the club will push hard to win the final play offs to achieve the dream of getting promoted to FUFA Big league.

Kigezi Home Boys Football club, in Southwestern region, Kabale district were the table contenders of Western regional League, Kigezi sub region with 47 points earned in 18 games played.

Whereas, Bunyaruguru tigers football club were the table contenders of Ankole region with 35 points earned in 15 games played.
