Kanungu passes 2023/24 financial budget

NEWS- After several high level consultations, Kanungu District Local Government Council has passed a budget worth Ugx 47.3 billion for financial year 2023/2024.

The Council which was Chaired by Speaker Frank  Byaruhanga passed a budget with amendments to the resource envelope prioritising the Education Sector.

According to Kanungu District Communications Officer Mwajuma Twaha, the theme of 2023/2024 budget is “Promotion of Commercial Agriculture, industrial, Market access for inclusive Growth, Employment and wealth creation”.

The District anticipate to get incomes from the Central Government transfers worth Ugx 43.5 which 91.93%, Local revenue worth Ugx 1.4 at 3.09%, other government transfers worth 2.2 which is 4.77% and external Financing Ugx 100 million which 0.21%

The District will spend Ugx 5 .7 billion on Administration  while Finance will take Ugx 350 million, Statutory Bodies and Commissions will take Ugx  783 million while Production and Marketing will take  1.6 billion.

Others include Health which will take 11.5 billion, Education Ugx 22.5 billion, Roads and Engineering will take Ugx 2.2 billion, Water will use Ugx 559 million, Natural resources was offered Ugx 1.1 billion,  Community based services was allocated Ugx 285 million and Planning was given Ugx 285 million, Internal Audit will take Ugx 63.2 million andTrade Industry and Local development was allocated Ugx 133 million.
