NEWS– The State Minister for economic monitoring from the office of the President Ms Akello Beatrice Akori while monitoring government projects in Ntungamo municipality challenged all religious leaders across the entire country to emulate the developments observed at the Diocese of south Ankole.
Minister’s call to the religious leaders came after visiting the articulated projects at the South Ankole diocese in Ntungamo located in Ntungamo District, southwestern region.
Some of the visited projects include Coffee gardens, banana plantations, and irrigation schemes among others.
The minister quoted the Bible that “when you are lazy you’re not supposed to eat” whereby she urged all believers to work hard to get out of poverty.
Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe of the South Ankole diocese thanked Minister Akello for the appreciation towards the developments at the Diocese.
However, while monitoring Emyooga Saccos in Ntungamo municipality, the Minister found out that a few members of Salon operators and performing artists defaulted to pay back in time before asking the security to apprehend the culprits and hold them accountable.
The chairman of Ntungamo Municipality Market vendors Emyooga Sacco Denis Mugizi Mbangira told the Minister that some of the Emyooga Sacco members refused to pay back thinking that it was a token for the electorate.
Minister Akello cautioned stakeholders in the project on policy deviation that if they deviate from the policy, they cause challenges to the project adding that poor communication hinders popularization of government projects.
The Minister tasked political leaders, project supervisors, participants in the projects and heads of departments to own such projects for the purposes of accountability.
