UPDF Officer stabbed to death in Kabale

NEWS– The Police in Kabale have arrested two suspects following the mysterious murder Private Byamukama Patrick UPDF soldier attached to 41st Battalion under 3rd Division and a born of Kanyabiyengo village in Kinyamari Parish Butanda sub county Kabale District.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists today that the incident took place today at Kanyabiyengo village where the deceased who was on pass leave was attacked from his home for unknown reasons, stabbed with a sharp object on the stomach and was rushed to Kabale Regional Referral hospital where he died on arrival.

Maate said that when the Police was informed, the team of detectives rushed to and documented details and two suspects were arrested.

Maate identified the suspects as 32 year old Katagamba Herbert and Bategana Gilvazio aged 29 years who handed himself to Butanda Police post for fear of being lynched after his hat and stick were found at the scene.

Maate explained that three houses belonging to the suspects who are residents of the same area, were burnt down by the angry residents before the Police and UPDF deployed there to avoid further destructions and was registered at Kabale Central Police Station under reference number CRB 411/2023 to help in investigations.

Maate said that Butanda Sub county borders the Republic of Rwanda and the incident occurred in a distance of approximately a 1 km from the Uganda Rwanda border.
