Excitement as Kibaale launches disbursement of Second Phase of PDM funds

NEWS- A total of 4,490 beneficiary members of the Parish Development Model [PDM] in Kibaale district are excited following the launch of the disbursement of the second phase of funds to their bank accounts.

The second phase of PDM funds was launched at Kibaale district headquarters on Wednesday 13th September, 2023 with 66 beneficiary Saccos from Kabalega Ward in Kibaale Town Council as the pilot PDM Sacco but to be rolled out across the district.

Hassan Matovu the PDM focal person said in the second phase they are going to disburse over Ugx. 4.4 billion to 4,491 farmers from 57 Sacco’s and that currently a total of 3,379 farmers have so far been enrolled and ready to receive funds.

Matovu revealed that in the first phase they disbursed 1.6 billion shillings to 1,659 beneficiaries and that they are doing better urging the PDM stakeholders to add more efforts in verifying the beneficiaries.

He said by next week 10 PDM Sacco’s across the district will receive the funds and those that are under coffee planting and maize planting will implement it since we are still in the season of planting.

Kibaale Deputy RDC Carolyn Kashaija Muyambi who issued out the payment Vouchers to the 66 beneficiaries from Kabalega ward warns against diverting funds to unintended purposes saying that her office is ready to follow up the funds.

Godfrey Muhonge Kasanga the district LC5 chairperson and Deo Kabugo the Kibaale Deputy CAO say that since the PDM was launched the district has so far received over 6 billion shillings emphasizing on proper usage and the funds do not cause domestic violence in their homes.

 Excited beneficiaries noted that they feel relief since the Financial Inclusion System (FIS) has been a challenge to use in the process.

Each beneficiary was given a payment voucher of 1 million shillings from Stanbic Bank Bwamiramira branch.
