Kabale’s Makanga hill set to receive a Police post to curb crime

NEWS- Makanga hill is set to get an independent police post after local’s alarms to the District Security teams for being insecure.

This was revealed on Monday 11^th Sep, 2023 in the meeting between the Kabale district security committee and Kabale regional referral hospital Medical Interns over their insecurity mostly during the night, the meeting that was held at the newly constructed accommodation of interns at Makanga hill in Kabale Municipality.

A section of workers at that facility narrated the consequences they go through whereby many of them have faced such problems of being robbed of their property while returning home after the duty.

Musiime Johnson the head of security at Kabale regional referral Hospital also narrated a story how he met four thugs who wanted to encroach him in the midnight of 10^th Sept, 2023by the time he was leaving the workplace to his home.

Musiime faulted Police night patrols for neglecting their cell, vowing that they only bypass on streets only and shun the hot-spots that need much attention.

He condemned the local council one leaders for doing nothing upon such thugs yet they knew their identities.

The head of Intern’s at Kabale regional referral hospital Dr Osinde Ochieng told our reporter that in less than 5 weeks they have spent at the same facility, over 4 medical Interns have already been attacked in their residence by unidentified thugs who robbed their household items.

The Kabale district resident commissioner Geoffrey Nyakahuma assured the public around the area that he is going to talk to the Kabale district security committee and very soon, a Police post shall be established in the area to guarantee safety of the community around.

Makanga is a well known as a hill for both the rich and Government institutions in Kabale municipality whereby it is also occupied Big Hotels, Kabale regional referral hospital, Kabale district headquarters offices, Nursing schools, Golf Course and among others but also well known as a deadly spot whereby many have lost their lives from.

A case in point, on 24^th July, 2023, Police found unidentified male lying dead at the Golf course and way back in January 2021 also, Shock and Grief engulfed the Uganda Police Force in Kabale district when one of their own was found murdered in cold blood at the offices of the Electoral Commission and his AK 47 gun taken.

The deceased was identified as Garatius Baryabakabu a 58 year old, who was attached to Kabale Central Police station.

This established police post is believed to erase all mentioned problems that have been happening in the area.
