KAGADI- Boda boda riders and Drivers in Kagadi district are decrying the hike in fuel prices noting that the trend has affected their work.

Matia Musoke alias Abyora the Chairperson Kagadi district Tax Operators explained that the increase in fuel prices has hindered their work because they are no longer making profits.

Musoke however confirms that they are not prepared to increased transport fares because of the economic hardships in the communities and the prices of fuel have escalated from Ugx5000 in the recent weeks to the current price of Ugx 5300, a litre of petro.

Okwehayire Yeremiah, Rubwama Bosco and Mwesige Moses boda boda riders operating in Kagadi town say the hike in fuel prices has affected their work since they haven’t increased transport fares.

They are calling on the general public to prepare for the worst and adhere to the new fares which will be introduced due to an increase in fuel prices.

Boda boda riders further ask the government to reduce the fuel prices to at least Ugx 4000 a litre.

Recently the Minister of State for Energy, Hon. Sidronius Okaasai told parliament that escalating fuel prices are caused by Global factors which are beyond Uganda’s making, and that there is not much his ministry can do to address the problem.
