Kisoro Police officer’s wife allegedly commits suicide by hanging

NEWS- The Police in Kisoro district are investigating circumstances under which a 25 year old woman allegedly committed Suicide.

According to ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Sub region Police spokesperson, the deceased is Sarah Narukwanga a wife to Samuel Imalingati a Police officer of Field Force Unit FFU department attached to Nyarusiza Police post.

It’s alleged that on Monday morning, the husband to the deceased left his wife and their one-year-old baby in their home to prepare breakfast and went to a nearby unipot to read books. Upon returning back after an approximate of  30 minutes, he found his wife hanging in a wrapper and unresponsive.

Maate narrates that the officer immediately informed his fellow officers from Kisoro Police Station who proceeded to the scene and ensured its preservation before they initiated an investigation into the matter. 

Subsequently, the district Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) and a team of detectives conducted a thorough examination of the scene and gathered forensic evidence before retrieving the body to Kisoro mortuary for postmortem examination.

Maate confided to journalists that inquiries to establish likely cause of the incident are under way and a suicide case was subsequently registered at Kisoro CPS on reference number DEF 11/2023.
