NEWS- The National Resistance Movement Party has unveiled an ambitious initiative to impart Swahili language skills to its members nationwide, in a bid to align with the broader East African integration agenda where Kiswahili has gained prominence as a regional common language.

This was revealed by Hon James Magode Ikuya, the State Minister for East African Community Affairs while delivering a message on behalf of the 3rd Deputy Prime Minister of Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga where he emphasized the profound significance of this language program in her stead.

“Learning Kiswahili isn’t merely a pastime; it is an integral part of embracing African languages, culture, and customs. This endeavour is essential as we embark on the African liberation process, reconnecting Africans with their heritage,” Minister Magode Ikuya stated.

Minister Magode Ikuya noted that no other language can teach you how to be truly African.

He said that the Africanism journey begins by speaking African languages and it is a path to deepen the struggle for the liberation of Africa and to restore the dignity of African people and therefore it is the right attitude towards all things African.

The NRM Secretary General Hon Richard Todwong said that the Kiswahili Lessons and the art of Public Speaking will be held free of charge every Wednesday from 9 am to 12 noon at the Party Headquarters.
