Two remanded over aggravated defilement in Kibaale

NEWS- Kibaale grade one magistrate court presided over by his worship Emmanuel Niyokwizeera on Wednesday 13th September 2023 remanded a 38-year-old man to Kibaale government prisons on charges of aggravated defilement.

The remanded is identified as Kevy Hajirimana, a resident of Mukayoora village in Mugarama Sub County, Kibaale district.

Court heard that, on 1st last month while at Kasansa- Kanyogoga village in Mugarama Sub County the accused Hajirimana performed sexual acts upon a toddler aged 3 and half years whose names are withheld since she is a minor which is contrary to section 129 (3) (4) (a) of the penal code act.

In the dock, the accused was not allowed to take any plea because court lacks jurisdiction to such capital offences which prompted the magistrate to further remand him to Kibaale government prison till 17th next month as they prepare to commit him to the high court in Hoima.

The same court further remanded a 22-year-old man identified as Rogers Tukwasibwe, a resident of Buhumuuro village in Kyakazihire Sub County, Kibaale district on charges of aggravated defilement.

Prosecution told court that on 07th June of this year, the accused Rogers while at Buhumuuro village performed sexual acts with a girl aged 07 years whose names are withheld since she is a minor.

In the dock, the accused was also not allowed to take any plea because the court lacks jurisdiction to such capital offences which prompted the magistrate to further remand him till 17th next month and that the accused has been on remand since June whereby the court is preparing to commit him to the high court in Hoima.
